Making Memories aboard the Big Yellow Boat

Last summer seemed magical here in Ilfracombe. It was wonderful to welcome back all those holidaymakers, who regularly choose our hometown, with its majestic coastline for their much-needed holidays. North Devon has among the highest cliffs in England and the second highest tides in the world.

The best way to take in the magic of its Coastline, is to book your passage on the Ilfracombe Princess. The town’s largest passenger vessel, she is custom built for coastal cruising and, for 12 years, she has taken thousands of passengers on a special journey through Devon’s past.

The Ilfracombe Princess is a large and comfortable catamaran with seating on both upper and lower decks and plenty of room to move around. She takes up to 100 passengers a trip and is Maritime and Coastguard Agency approved and she is licenced too, so you can enjoy a cold beer while you take in the breathtaking scenery.

There are three cruises to choose from, each with its own character and unique story.

The Smugglers Caves Cruise takes you around the very headland where once pirates ruled the waves, and the people of Ilfracombe would store anything they could salvage from ships wrecked upon the shore.  We then journey on to Combe Martin Bay where we show you the historic silver mines as well as a millionaires mansion.  With lots to see this is a fantastic short cruise for all the family.

The Exmoor Cliffs Cruise where you’ll find the highest cliffs and iron ore mines deep in the cliffs. You’ll be glad you have your binoculars with you because you may see some of Britain’s rarest nesting birds including razorbills, guillemots, cormorants and peregrine falcons. Keep your eyes peeled too for the dolphins, porpoises and seals all frequent visitors.

The Seals and Lighthouse Cruise.  See the majestic Bull Point lighthouse and then on to Rockham Bay to see the playful and friendly seals. Stunning views of far off lands such as Lundy Island and Hartland Point.  But, for one of the best views on the programme, take our evening drinks cruise where you can watch the glorious sunset with your favourite tipple in hand.

With Smugglers Cove, Hangman Hills, the Silver Mines and Sheracombe waterfall to name just a few amazing places along the way, you can be assured of a memorable and unique experience. If you need more information on your trip our expert staff will be on hand to offer timely advise and to answer your questions.
